About me

Lucy Reynolds

I was born and raised in New Zealand and have lived in Wellington for over 34 years. I am a parent to three adult children and grandparent to one. I am a qualified Clinical Psychologist with over 16 years experience working in a number of roles. Initially in an Infant, Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health Te Whatu Ora service as a clinician, a team leader and then manager.  I have been in private practice for a number of years and currently work part-time in private practice and part-time at Victoria University as a clinical practice advisor. Prior to working as a Clinical Psychologist, I worked as a registered teacher and speech and language therapist.

I aim to provide a compassionate and safe space where individuals and families can explore their worries and difficulties, connect to their strengths and what is meaningful for them, and build skills and strategies that help them create the life they wish to lead.

I work with children, young people, parents, and adults offering best evidence-based assessment and interventions including Cognitive Behavior therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment Based Therapy, and ADHD assessments for children, adolescents, and adults.

My areas of practice and special interest are parenting, family relationships, children and young people experiencing anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, and behavior difficulties, and adults experiencing stress, life transitions, anxiety and depression.  I also have experience and an interest in providing supervision for clinicians.

Working with parents/caregivers is an important part of my work with children and adolescents. Often it is best to work with the parents to make the changes they, their children, and the family are looking for. We will discuss this when we meet to ensure we are making the best decision as to who is involved in our work together.

I enjoy working collaboratively with GPs, schools and other professionals and will discuss with you how this can enhance our work together.
